In order to optimally utilize the infrastructure and other facilities available in these Vidyalayas, it has been decided by the Samiti to fill the vacant seats in Class IX through an All India level Admission Test.

Eligibility for Navodaya Vidyalaya 9th class Admission

  • Only those candidates who are studying Class VIII during the Academic Session 2020-21 in one of the Govt./Govt. recognized schools.
  • Candidate appearing for the admission test must qualify/ pass Class VIII in the academic session 2020-21 from a Govt./Govt. recognized school
  • A candidate seeking admission must be born between 01.05.2005 and 30.04.2009 (both days inclusive).

Navodaya Vidyalaya 9th class Admission Exam Date

Selection Test for admission to Class IX will be conducted on Saturday, the 13th February 2021 in Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya of concerned district/any other centre allotted by NVS.

Date of Examination – Saturday 13th February 2021

Navodaya Vidyalaya 9th class Admission Exam Pattern

  • Duration – 2 ½ hours (10:00 AM to 12:30 PM). However, in respect of candidates with special needs (Divyang), additional time of 30 minutes will be provided, subject to the production of certificates from the competent authority.
  • Centre for examination shall be the JAWAHAR NAVODAYA VIDYALAYA of the district concerned/ any other centre allotted by NVS.
  • Medium of Language for Examination will be English/Hindi.
  • Students have to answer in OMR sheet

Selection Test will consist of questions from the subjects of Mathematics, General Science, English and Hindi. Difficulty level of the test paper shall be of Class VIII.

English :  15 Marks
Hindi : 15 Marks
Maths : 35 Marks
Science : 35 Marks

The Exam is for 100 Marks. The test will be of objective type with 2 ½ hours duration without any break.

Merit List will be announced as per the NVS selection criteria.

How to Apply for Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya 9th class Admission 2021

Online applications may be submitted from 04th November, 2020. The candidate may refer to NVS Hqrs. Website www.nvsadmissionclassnine.in or website of JNVs.

Admissions in JNVs are made through the JAWAHAR NAVODAYA VIDYALAYA SELECTION TEST (JNVST) to Class VI. Students of the JNVs appear for board examinations of the Central Board of Secondary Education. While education in the schools is free including board & lodging, uniform and textbooks, a sum of Rs. 600/- per month is
collected only from the students of Classes IX to XII towards Vidyalaya Vikas Nidhi. However, students belonging to SC/ST categories, all Girl students and the students whose family income is below poverty line (BPL) are exempted.

JNV Selection Test for admission to Class-VI in JNVs for the academic session 2021-22 will be held in On Saturday, the 10th April, 2021 at 11.30 A.M in one phase for all Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas.

The last date to submit online application is 15th December 2020.

Eligibility for Navodaya Vidyalaya 6th Class Admission

  • Only the candidates from the district concerned where the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya has been opened are eligible to apply for admission.
  • A candidate seeking admission must not have been born before 01-05-2008 and after 30-04-2012 (Both dates are inclusive). This will apply to candidates of all categories.
  • A candidate appearing for the selection test must be studying in Class-V for the whole of the academic session 2020-21 in a Government/Government aided or other recognized schools.
  • Candidate who has not been promoted and admitted to Class-V before 15th September, 2020 is not eligible to apply.
  • No candidate is eligible to appear in the selection test for the second time, under any circumstances.

Exam Pattern for Selection Test of Navodaya Vidyalaya

The selection test will be of two-hour duration from 11:30 am to 01:30 pm and will have 3 sections with only objective type questions. There are 80 questions in all for 100 marks.

  • Section I – Mental ability Test : 40 Questions : 50 Marks : 60 Minutes
  • Section II – Arithmetic Test : 20 Questions : 25 Marks : 30 Minutes
  • Section III – Language Test : 20 Questions : 25 Marks : 30 Minutes

The duration of exam is 2 Hours. There will be 80 questions for 100 marks

A single test booklet comprising of all the three sections will be given to each candidate. Additional time of 30 minutes will be allowed for “Divyang students” (differently-abled students)

How to apply for Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya 6th class Admission

  • Registration can be done free of cost through the admission portal of NVS linked through www.navodaya.gov.in
    and navodaya.gov.in/nvs/en/Admission-JNVST/JNVST-class/.
  • The eligible candidates have to fill up the online form and upload the certificate with the photograph along with signatures of both candidate and his/her parent/guardian.

Documents to be submitted after selection

  • Proof for date of birth.
  • Proofs for eligibility as per the conditions of NVS.
  • For candidates seeking admission under rural quota, the parents will also have to submit a certificate from the competent authority to the effect that the child had studied in an Institution / School located in a rural area.
  • Residence Certificate in prescribed proforma in case of NIOS studies only.
  • Any other documents required.
